Q&A
What is Healing in the Highlands?
Healing in the Highlands is a transformational retreat set in the sacred Scottish Highlands. Through energy healing, subconscious work, ceremony, and immersive connection with the land, you'll experience deep restoration, personal awakening, and soul-level expansion.
Who facilitates this retreat?
Healing in the Highlands is led by Alana Keddie, founder of AK Healing and a native of Scotland. Born of this land, Alana carries a deep ancestral and energetic connection to the Highlands—and holds this retreat as a sacred offering to those seeking true inner return.
With years of experience as a master energy healer, subconscious reprogramming practitioner, sacred womb healer, and spiritual retreat leader, Alana blends practical guidance with soul-deep transformation. Her work is rooted in energy medicine, somatic ritual, and the power of remembrance.
This is not a retreat led from performance or perfection. It is a space of devotion—held by someone who knows the land, trusts the process, and walks beside you as you rise.
Land journeys are guided by a trusted local expert who offers cultural depth and presence as we visit ancient sites. The rest unfolds in circle, in ceremony, and in the quiet spaces where healing meets soul.
You will be seen.
You will be held.
And you will be invited home—to yourself.

What makes this retreat different from others?
This isn’t just a retreat. It’s a return.
Healing in the Highlands is not about fixing yourself or chasing enlightenment. It’s about coming home to your soul—through the land, through ceremony, through deep, grounded healing.
What makes this retreat different?
-
Rooted in ancestral connection – Led by a Scottish-born facilitator who holds a deep, living relationship with the land
-
Intimate & intentional – Small group size for personal attention, soul connection, and real transformation
-
Not just workshops—sacred space – This is energy work, ritual, breath, subconscious reprogramming, land alchemy, and soul remembering
-
You’re not a guest, you’re a sacred part of the circle – Your presence matters. Your process is honored. Nothing is forced.
-
The land is a co-facilitator – Scotland is not a backdrop—it’s part of the healing. You’ll sit, breathe, and remember who you are in places where the veil is thin and the soul can speak.
This is not performance, productivity, or surface-level spirituality.
This is a homecoming—for those who are ready to shed what they are not, and rise into who they truly are.

Yes—Scotland is generally considered a very safe country for travelers. The Highlands, in particular, are known for their peacefulness, natural beauty, and welcoming communities.
Like anywhere, it’s always wise to take standard precautions when traveling (keeping your belongings secure, being aware of your surroundings), but most guests find Scotland to be calm, respectful, and deeply hospitable.
Our retreat location is private and quiet, and we travel as a group when exploring. You’ll be well supported, and safety is always a priority throughout the experience.

Why is the retreat in October?
October in Scotland is a sacred and intentional choice. The Highlands are bathed in golden light, the air is crisp and clear, and the energy is deeply grounding. It’s a time of quiet beauty—when nature begins to turn inward, inviting you to do the same.
Energetically, October is the season of transformation. The veil between worlds begins to thin, making it a powerful time for healing, reflection, and return. This is when the land whispers, not shouts—offering space to listen to your soul.
Practically, it’s one of the best times to visit the Highlands:
-
No midges (summer insects are gone)
-
No crowds—most tourists have left sacred sites quiet
-
Mild, fresh weather—cool but not harsh
-
Autumn colors, moody skies, and peaceful landscapes
-
The perfect blend of wild beauty and cozy retreat vibes
We chose this time to offer you the richness of Scotland at its most mystical—without distraction, noise, or overwhelm.

What currency do they use in Scotland?
Scotland uses the British Pound (GBP). Most places accept cards, but it’s a good idea to have a small amount of cash for smaller purchases or countryside stops. Currency can be exchanged at major airports or withdrawn from ATMs upon arrival.
Is there Wi-Fi?
WiFi will be available at the retreat location, but we encourage unplugging when possible for deeper presence and restoration.

Arrival & Departure Suggestions
We aim to get the most out of our six days together. If possible, plan to arrive in Scotland at least a day before the retreat begins and depart the day after. As we begin in the morning of the 21st and end in the late afternoon/evening on the 26th. It is important to rest on both sides of the retreat to ground, integrate, and adjust to time zone changes.
We recommend the Inverness airport hotel for convenience.
Let us know if you'd like hotel or B&B suggestions in Inverness—we're happy to help.

What kind of power outlets does Scotland use?
Scotland uses Type G electrical outlets, the same as the rest of the UK. These have three rectangular prongs and run on 230V/50Hz electricity.
If you’re coming from outside the UK, you’ll need a Type G travel adapter to plug in your devices.

Do I need a voltage converter?
Most modern devices (like phone chargers, laptops, and tablets) are dual voltage and work fine with just an adapter. Always check your device’s label. For items like hairdryers or curling irons, a voltage converter may be necessary unless they're travel-compatible.

Will I have contact with the retreat leader(s) before the retreat?
Yes. Once your spot is confirmed, you’ll receive ongoing support and communication directly from Alana and the retreat team.
To help you feel grounded, connected, and fully prepared, we offer:
-
A live group Zoom circle before the retreat to meet fellow participants, set intentions, and begin energetically opening the space
-
The option for a 1:1 connection call with Alana if you’d like more personal support or have specific questions
-
Regular email updates, travel tips, and a full welcome packet with everything you need to feel held in the journey ahead
This retreat begins the moment you say yes.

Will there be a way for my family or emergency contact to reach me during the retreat?
Yes. During the retreat, a direct phone number will be provided that connects to our retreat team on the ground. This number can be shared with your emergency contact before the retreat begins.
While we encourage limited phone use to support presence and healing, your safety and peace of mind are our priority. You’ll be reachable in case of emergency—and supported every step of the way.

What happens if my flight is delayed?
We understand that travel plans can shift. If your flight is delayed, please contact us using the emergency number provided in your welcome packet. We will do our best to coordinate your arrival and ensure you are still received with care. Airport pickups may need to be adjusted, but we’ll guide you every step of the way.

Can I arrive late or leave early?
We strongly recommend arriving on time and staying through the full retreat to receive the experience in its entirety. Early departures or late arrivals disrupt not only your process but the sacred container of the group. If you foresee a conflict, please reach out in advance to discuss.

Will I need a passport or visa?
If you are traveling from outside the UK, you will need a valid passport. For many travelers from the US a tourist visa is now required for short stays. However, we recommend checking with your country’s travel guidelines to confirm any entry requirements.

Can I stay extra nights before or after the retreat?
Yes. In fact, we encourage it. Giving yourself spacious time before and after the retreat can help ease travel stress and allow for deeper integration. Let us know and we’ll share local accommodation recommendations.

What if I need to skip a session or rest?
Your body and nervous system are honored here. While we encourage full participation, this retreat is designed with spaciousness and self-trust in mind. If you need to step back, rest, or move at your own pace, you're fully supported to do so. This is not about pushing—it's about listening inward.

Will I be expected to share in the group?
You are never forced to share. All invitations to speak or participate are exactly that—invitations. We hold space for authentic expression, whether that means speaking your truth, sitting in silence, or simply being present. You belong here, just as you are.

What if something heavy comes up emotionally?
That’s not only okay—it’s welcome. Healing isn’t always light and pretty, and we honor whatever arises. Alana is a trained energy healer and subconscious reprogramming practitioner who can hold space for deep emotional processes with compassion and skill. This is a safe, supportive environment where you don’t have to hold it all alone.

Is this a safe space for people of all backgrounds?
Yes. This retreat is open and inclusive to all identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences. We are deeply committed to creating a space rooted in respect, consent, and belonging. If you have any concerns about safety or accessibility, we invite you to reach out personally.

How do I know if I’m ready for this kind of deep work?
If you feel even a small stirring inside, a quiet yes—you are ready. You don’t have to be “healed” or have it all figured out. You just need to be open. This retreat meets you exactly where you are, and honors your pace.

I’m introverted—will I feel overwhelmed?
We get it. This retreat is designed with introverts and empaths in mind. You’ll have time each day to be alone, rest, reflect, and recharge. The group size is small and intimate, and you’ll never be forced into activities or conversation. You’ll be supported to participate in the way that feels most true to you.

Will this retreat conflict with my religion or beliefs?
No. This retreat is spiritual, not religious. We honor all belief systems and do not ask you to take on any ideology. Practices include meditation, energy work, breathwork, and personal reflection—each offered with openness and respect. You are always in choice.

Can I bring a partner or friend?
Yes, you’re welcome to attend with someone close to you, as long as they are also aligned with the retreat’s purpose and ready to fully participate. Each person must apply and be accepted individually to ensure the group dynamic remains intentional and sacred.

Do I need to be “spiritual” to attend?
Not at all. This retreat is for anyone who feels the call to reconnect with themselves. Whether you consider yourself spiritual, curious, skeptical, or somewhere in between—you are welcome here. All that’s needed is a willingness to explore with an open heart.

What’s the group vibe like—structured or relaxed?
We hold a grounded, intentional container with clear daily rhythm and flow. That said, there is space within structure—you’ll experience healing, group practice, and sacred ceremony, as well as time to rest, wander, or be. Think: soul-deep guidance with room to breathe.

What ages usually attend?
Participants typically range from their late 20s to 60s, but there’s no age limit. What matters most is the resonance with the work. Whether you're in a life transition, seeking deeper meaning, or simply ready to remember who you are—if you feel the call, you belong here.

Is it fun?
Yes—deeply. While this retreat holds space for healing, reflection, and transformation, there is also laughter, beauty, connection, and pure joy. Fun isn’t something we add in—it’s something that naturally rises when we feel safe, seen, and connected.
You’ll experience:
-
Soulful connection with like-hearted humans
-
Scenic adventures through the Highlands
-
Cozy moments by the fire
-
Shared meals, spontaneous laughter, and magic in the in-between
This retreat is a return to your soul and to your lightness. You’ll do the inner work—but you’ll also play, explore, breathe deeply, and maybe even dance under the Scottish sky.
Healing can be joyful. And here, it is.

Will the retreat feel heavy or emotionally intense?
The work we do is deep, but it doesn’t have to be heavy. This retreat is about releasing, remembering, and returning—not reliving pain. The space is held with gentleness, joy, and a deep respect for your nervous system.
Yes, there may be tears.
Yes, you may move through powerful emotions.
But there will also be laughter, freedom, beauty, and expansive lightness.
This is a sacred, soulful experience—but it’s also a great time.
Expect golden moments of play, wonder, connection, and pure presence. Think:
-
Breathwork in a stone circle
-
Stories shared over warm meals
-
Soft mist on your face as you walk the land
-
Belly laughs around the fire
You’ll leave lighter, not heavier.
And that’s the point.

What will I take away from this retreat?
Healing in the Highlands isn’t just a retreat—it’s a life-changing experience.
You’ll walk away with:
-
A deeper connection to yourself than ever before
-
putting down finally all that does not belong to you
-
A sense of clarity, peace, and embodied purpose
-
Soul-aligned tools to carry home with you
-
A renewed relationship with the land, your body, and your truth
-
And most of all—once-in-a-lifetime connections with others on the path
People often say they can’t fully describe what shifted… only that something clicked back into place. That they’ll never forget what they felt here. That it changed everything.
This retreat creates memories you’ll carry forever—in your heart, in your body, in your spirit.
It’s not just something you attend.
It’s something you become.

One Last Thing...
You may still have questions. That’s okay.
But if something in you feels the quiet pull—trust that.
Healing in the Highlands is more than a retreat.
It’s a threshold.
A return.
A once-in-a-lifetime experience that will live in your bones, your breath, and your memory long after you leave.
You’ll walk away changed.
Not because someone fixed you—
but because you finally remembered who you are.
We can’t wait to welcome you.
